Contributing, Creating, Connecting

The Office of Institutional Advancement establishes long-lasting community relationships, enhances the image of the college, promotes educational opportunities at COM and builds financial resources to support our students and programs. It accomplishes its mission through partnerships and the philanthropy of alumni, friends, corporations and faculty and staff.

Working closely with College of the Mainland Foundation, composed of community and business leaders, the advancement team secures gifts and grants for areas where state funding is not available.

The IA office includes the following areas:

COM Foundation — Secures private support from individuals, corporations, and alumni for direct support for students and to further the college mission, vision and goals.

COM Alumni and Friends — Supports the college’s mission through interaction with current and former students, and cultivates a professional network of individuals who champion the growth of College of the Mainland.

Grant Development — Assists faculty and staff in developing competitive grant proposals to provide external resources for college initiatives.

Marketing and Communications – Increase public awareness and appreciation of COM to prospective and current students, their parents and key constituents.

The Institutional Advancement Department is located in Appomattox Square, Suite 13, 1201 Amburn Rd., across from the main campus in Texas City.
